The Angelou Centre and Anti Racist Cumbria work in partnership to deliver The Phoenix Way for North East England and Cumbria.
The Angelou Centre is a safe and confidential place run by and for women from Black and racially minoritised communities in the North East of England.
They offer holistic support including refuge housing, counseling, therapy, skills courses, group trips, residentials and confidence building programmes. Anti-racist Cumbria is a registered charity, created in response to the Black Lives Matter movement. What began as a voluntary organisation, is now a growing organisation supported by leading national charities such as Esmée Fairbairn and Paul Hamlyn. They’re committing to learning, excellence, fairness, belonging and action.
Inclusive North was established in 1996 as an infrastructure-plus organisation. Inclusive North exists to understand and address the inequalities and systematic marginalisation and discrimination of racially minoritised communities in Lancashire. Their mission is to empower racialised communities, businesses, and institutions. We confront systemic obstacles, champion racial equity through research, policy, innovation, and community collaboration.
Impact Hub Bradford serves as the delivery development partner for The Phoenix Way for Yorkshire and Humber. In the vibrant city of Bradford, Impact Hub Bradford has been quietly making waves, addressing the needs of underserved communities and promoting inclusive innovation. With its commitment to diversity and social impact, they have become a key player in the city’s economic strategy. Impact Hub Bradford underscores the importance of diversity in entrepreneurial endeavours, particularly those with a focus on social impact. The hub’s approach revolves around creating opportunities and benefits for women, young people, and people of colour.
The Phoenix Way Midlands is coordinated and managed by South Asian Health Action UK. South Asian Health Action (SAHA) is a growing charity based in Leicester, UK. The organisation seeks to engage with, educate and empower the South Asian community on health challenges facing the community. South Asian Health Action’s current focus is; diabetes, kidney disease, organ, blood and stem cell donations. Its future goal is to become the UK’s leading patient and community led health care charity, facilitating awareness and change amongst the South Asian community.
Black South West Network is a Black-led racial justice organisation based in Bristol that supports the development of dynamic, independent, and strong Black and Minoritised communities, businesses, and organisations to flourish whilst challenging systemic barriers. They work to drive racial equity in the UK society’s dimensions of research, policy, innovation, socio-economics, and health through a collective and meaningful community-led approach.
Ubele has played a key role in the development of the Phoenix Way. It’s mission is to be a catalyst for socio-economic empowerment of Black & Brown communities globally!
The Ubele Initiative is an African diaspora led, infrastructure plus organisation, empowering Black and racially minoritised communities in the UK, to act as catalysts for social and economic change. To achieve this, they work with community leaders, groups, and organisations in the UK and beyond to strengthen their sustainability, resilience, and voice.
